I believe I have about 67000 rounds at this point since April. Saving me $$$$ and allowing me to shoot everyday! So when I get in the competition, it doesn't feel alien to me when I pick up my gun. This VR Simulator + practicing my mount with my real shotgun is truly revolutionary. Especially with the rising costs of ammo, attending events, etc.
Love this game, I saw an advert for it on Facebook and it was the sole reason I bought the quest headset. It does not disappoint. The physics feel spot on and the amount of disciplines available is wide ranging, everything from trap clays to sporting and even game shooting. The newly added multiplayer function takes it to a new level, waiting for your turn and watching the rest of the line taking their shot is awesome, and really builds the tension if it is a close round.
Within a week of buying this I shot the best round of sporting clays I've ever shot.
What Do I Need to Start Shooting in VR?
1. Get a Meta Quest Headset
Clay Hunt VR is available on Meta Quest 3, 3S, 2, and Pro - no additional equipment or subscriptions required. Starting $299 in US - you can find local prices at Meta Store.
The Meta Quest platform is an outstanding all-in-one entertainment system for the whole family, offering everything from immersive games and travel experiences to fitness and social activities in virtual reality. Of course, it's also the perfect way to enjoy Clay Hunt VR and other shooting experiences. For the best visual clarity and performance, Meta Quest 3 is the recommended headset, though Clay Hunt VR runs smoothly on the Quest 3S and Quest 2 as well. Clay Hunt VR requires only a few gb of memory so 128gb model is sufficient.
Meta has made onboarding easy with the Quest, but it's a good idea to familiarize yourself with the headset and controllers through YouTube tutorials and the First Steps application.
2. Buy Clay Hunt VR
Once you have the headset, you can purchase Clay Hunt VR in the Horizon Store or with the Meta Horizon mobile app ($29 - price may vary). 3. Get an Adjustable VR Gun Stock
When using Clay Hunt VR as a training tool, we recommend pairing it with a gun stock that can be adjusted to match the dimensions and weight balance of your real shotgun. It's also possible to attach the VR controllers to your real gun with the new ClayProVR bluetooth controller. While Clay Hunt VR is compatible with all standard controller-mounted gun stocks, for the most authentic experience we suggest using models specifically designed for Clay Hunt VR. Gun stock is optional, so you can start with just the controllers that comes with the headset.
We recommend the Real Stock Pro with the weight kit from Texture VR when using Clay Hunt VR as part of competitive shooting training. The Real Stock Pro has a superior shotgun feel to it and the dimensions and weight can be adjusted to match your real shotgun.
The UK based MegaVR offers Simstock and Simstock Jr. gun stocks featuring wide range of adjustments: as well as length of pull and comb height and tilt, you can make advanced adjustments such as butt length, angle, rotation as well as independent comb and butt cast.
Mint3D Clay Blaster is designed to be used with Clay Hunt VR and features basic adjustments for the stock (cheek height, butt height, stock length) and optional weights.

Adjust the Gun Stock
To fully take advantage of virtual training, it's important to spend some time adjusting the gun stock to match your gun dimensions and weight balance. Stocks from TextureVR and MegaVR offers a wide range of adjustability to match it with your real gun. With the gun stock perfect, you then proceed to virtual reality and adjust the controller offsets to position and rotate the virtual gun to match the physical counterpart. It's recommended to use the patterning board in the game to make sure everything is aligned as your real shotgun. Here are two excellent tutorials:
Practice in Virtual Reality
Shooting enthusiasts and competitive shooters have achieved great results by including Clay Hunt VR in their training. Practicing daily in virtual reality - combined with mounting drills, using a real shotgun has proven to be an effective way to improve performance.
Clay Hunt VR adapts to every skill level. Start with beginner mode for slower targets and more forgiving hit detection, then progress to professional difficulty for true-to-life physics and competition-level challenge.
In the app the user may custom tailor a large number of variables for the gun, from High Rib to Low rib, Point of Impact can be adjusted, Chokes tubes selected, types of guns from over under, autoloader, side by side, and pump. Gun fit can also be adjusted in the app to perfectly match the sight picture you get with your real-world guns.
For clay competitors Clay Hunt VR accurately reproduces the flight path and speed of International Skeet and Trap, American Skeet and Trap, multiple Sporting clays courses.

Clay Hunt VR is a great coaching tool as the screen can be cast live to another device like a big screen TV, tablet, phone, basically anything you can cast a video to. Thus, coaches can view, monitor, and correct issues while the student shooter is in VR. When used in gun stock mode with a stock like the Real Stock Pro, coaches can also monitor mounting, cheek weld, swing, and other important factors in teaching student's proper shotgun technique. For the average shooter it's a great way to practice between trips to the club. Practice whenever you want in the convenience of your own home. No need to buy shells, pay range fees, just turn it on and shoot.
